Some vehicles are equipped with “Directional Tire”. So what exactly does this mean? First of all the tires have tread that must be pointed in a certain direction….Forward. Second the reason for this is better handling of the car in dry and wet conditions both. Third, you can not mix and match tires front to back or side to side, as you can with 4 standard road tires. The reason is traction and design.
MOST directional tires are not rotatable in any configuration. Each is meant to be on the corner they are mounted on…such as a Corvette, for example. NO tire may be rotated. They are on to stay where they are. You will find sports and exotic cars with “Low Profile” tires, often have directionals.
It is the way its been for almost 20 years. If you are lucky enough to have the same size tire front and back…you may rotate tires front to back, keeping each tire on the same side of the car. This is the way the tire…. and the car was designed…If you want a car with or without directional tires….the easiest way to find it is to Call 503-643-4585 or Click Bob, at BestCarDealinTown.com. “You’ll Find A Better Way to Buy any Car!”
