Corvette Will Not Have a Mid-Engine Version…or Will They??

According to a blog article in the United Kingdom, GM and the Corvette engineers were thinking of launching a mid-engine Corvette, sometime this decade. But GM’s Karl Stracke, Vice-President of Global Engineering said that’s not going to happen. One things for sure. The engineers at GM were working with the engineers at Saab to develop a mid-engine type transmission reportedly for the Corvette. No confirmation can be given to state that the Corvette will in fact re-invent itself into a mid-engine car.  The best thing we can do is to “Stay Tuned”.

There have been many changes at GM in the last year, it’s hard to say what’s next. I’m sure there are many more changes ahead. If you want to change your present vehicle for any new or used GM vehicle or any other name brand…just call 503-643-4585 or Click Bob Bonnell @ BestCarDealinTown.com.  It really is “A Better Way to Buy ANY Car”.

Now You can Cruise in a NEW Chevy Cruze!

The New Chevy Cruze compact 4- cylinder car is a pretty amazing piece of engineering. It will place Chevrolet at the top of the economy list for  straight gasoline powered engines. You can cruise all day long on the freeway at 40 plus miles per gallon. Real world mileage test by Warren Brown of the Washington Post. That was in a turbo charged model. You will  do better in the straight 4-cylinder model.

Chevy went all out on the spacious  interior which will comfortably seat 5 adults. The styling is upscale for a small subcompact and the interior is rich and well thought-out. GM has just out done the competition is many areas.  This gas sipping car can be yours starting next month at your local Chevy store. Oh… the price as tested was only $15,624.00. Not bad in today’s economy.

From 1950 to 2010…It’s Been Quite a Ride!

Way back in 1950…things were different. Cars were different, people were different. Almost anything you point to today either didn’t exist…or was brand new…your TV for example. Only 52% of all homes in the US had a TV. But virtually everyone did have one car. Henry Ford saw to that in the early part of the Century with mass production using standardized parts. The family car became affordable. Cars had carburetors back then. Fuel injection didn’t start until the late Fifties…and then only on race cars. All cars were domestic. Well 99% of them were. No one had any idea what an import was other than a Jaguar or an MG. VW was just barely known. I like to think cars had individual personalities back then. You could easily tell a Cadillac from a Mercury from a Chrysler. Kids loved to watch for their favorite car coming past them while they rode with Mom and Dad. Well cars may be more accessible to people today, but I’ll take a 1950 Cadillac Convertible any day. See The USA Through A Covered Bridge this Summer

So what are your vacation plans this year? Don’t have any…well how about a covered bridge road trip!  That’s right there are still many covered bridges on many of America’s roads and biways. No…you won’t find them on the interstate freeway system. Time has almost passed these relics by…but not quite. Most of the remaining covered bridges have been restored by local historical groups wishing to keep a unique part of America’s past alive! You can make a grand tour from coast to coast and drive over… and under these remaining covered landmarks. The first covered bridge was built in 1805. Originally designed like any other bridge…the City father’s of Philadelphia thought the bridge would survive longer if it were covered. What a great idea. And the idea spread like wild fire. The movie…”The Bridges of Madison County” (Iowa), staring Clint Eastwood, was filmed on location and shows several of the seven covered bridges in that county. It’s a part of America that was conceived during a simpler more artistic time. If you want to see the USA through a coverd bridge..just call 503-643-4585 or click Bob @BestCarDealinTown.com…for “A Better Way to Buy any new or used car, truck or motorhome”.

The Viper Can’t Bite you Any More

The Dodge Viper which has been built since 1992 has run it’s course. Their last one was built Thursday July 1st, 2010. Many of these reside in the Jay Leno collection. One of the most powerful cars ever built by Chrysler Corporation is gone. At least that’s the official word for now. More than 400 Viper owners were on hand for the completion of the last one, including the new owners of that car. D’ann Rauh and husband were on hand to drive their new and final Viper off the assembly line. They currently have the largest collection of them with 40 to their credit.  If you’d like to own anpiece of history and put a Viper in your cage…just call 503-643-4585 or click Bob Bonnell @BestCarDealinTown.com to get a “Better Way to Buy any Car”.

Goodbue to the PT Cruiser!

The PT Cruiser ,which has been built by  Chrysler Corp. since the year 2000… died on Friday July 9th. The car that got many Americans back in the seat of a “Fun” car again is gone forever. With Government ,Union and Italian ownership of the “New” Chrysler Corporation, it will be Fiat that will have to quench your thirst for a small car from MoPar. They built 1.3 million Cruisers in 11 years.  A lot of cars by current  standards. When the vehicle first arrived on the scene…it was going for $5000 over Retail Sticker. People were lining up to have one at that price. Well a year later the frenzy started to die down and so did the price. Many people were now owners of a car that had suddenly depreciated $10,000 in 18 months. The good news is that pricing and production  evened out… and the car was a pretty staple hit for the next 9 years. If you want to drive a Cruiser or any other vehicle you can imagine…just call 503-643-4585 or click Bob Bonnell at BestCarDealinTown.com and you will find a “Better Way to Buy any Car”!

After 71 years…It’s Goodbye to Mercury!

The fun started way back in 1939. The NEW Mercury Division was created by Henry Ford Sr and Edsel Ford. It was a great idea to introduce an upscale Ford, but priced less than a Lincoln. The War years interupted production for 4and 1/2 years. But in 1946 Mercury started to become a household word. The Mercury of 1949 set the World on it’s ear. Radical but well accepted styling put it right in high demand with the public. And who would ever forget James Dean’s ride in one when he made “Rebel without a Cause”.

Unfortunately memories don’t make money. Ford neglected the Mercury Division for so many years, that there is no way to bring her back. But across town General Motors did the same thing to Pontiac and Saturn…so there’s plenty of blame to go around.  Now Lincoln-Mercury dealers wonder what’s in store for them next. Very few will be able to survive on just selling Lincolns. It will take some time to sort out, but it will reconstitute next year after the final build date is over.

If you want to buy any new or used Mercury of your dreams…then call or click Bob at BestCarDealinTown.com  503-643-4585. It’s  “YOUR Better Way to Buy any New or Used car”.

Want to find it fast on the Internet? Try This!

There is a little known website, or at least it was to me. It’s called … OODLE.COM. If you already know about it,great. But it’s new to me and a vary interesting site.

You plug anything into it just like GOOGLE.COM, but I have noticed a remarkable difference in the number of hits it comes up with compared to Google, when you are looking for Cars. It may not be true with every subject, but auto adds are quite remarkable. When I plug in 1948 Cadillac, it brings up adds that Google does not. So whatever they are doing is working just a touch better…at the present. Now everything can change in the “Blink of an EYE”, but today it seems to rule. Try it and see if it works. It only takes a couple of seconds to find out.

If you want to get all the right information the first time on “BestCarDealinTown.com, then call or click Bob Bonnell 503-643-4585. I’ll show you a “Better Way to Buy any Car”.

What New Car is Right For You?

With the price of gas falling, once again, many people are beginning to wonder what size car they really should buy? If you don’t need a lot of space for kids, camping gear and other stuff. You might want to consider a small compact car.  The economy car will always be in style in one way or another. Gas can go up and down, but good common sense economy will never go out of style. If it’s just you or you and one other person in the vehicle most of the time, why have a full size SUV??   There’s no point.

Right now you can choose from a variety of small cars,  including the upcoming entirely electric vehicle from Nissan called the Leaf.  Why not get out ahead of the pack…be innovative and go green. Hybrids are a great deal now too. There’s no limit on the number of choices you have to rightsize your car. White cars are always better in hot climates and Summer time, they reflect heat. They don’t absorb it like dark colors do. This way you can keep you cool, longer.

If you want to know more about any small or full sized vehicle..just call 503-643-4585 or click Bob Bonnell at BestCarDealinTown.com, I can get you information on any car…and a “Better Way to Buy it too!”
